other than reading up on the breed, which i’m sure you’ve done already, keep in mind that you are getting a hunting dog that will require lots of training and exercise. remember that this dog was bred to work and will need to be kept busy.

I have a blind friend who uses a Weimaraner as a seeing-eye dog. She’s great, but does get lots of exercise as she walks with her mistress to and from work each day.

Congratulations!!
Spend time playing with the dog and getting to know him, and letting him get to know you.
Remember to let him outside to go to the bathroom every hour or so when he’s a puppy (and praise him when he goes)! If he goes in the house, yell "NO!" and put him outside immediately so he knows where to go.
If he starts chewing the furniture or doing something he’s not supposed to, redirect him to a toy that he’s allowed to play with. My dogs love those rope toys and stuffed animals!

I have 4 dogs.
Sign up for obedience training. Agility is also a lot of fun for you and your new pup. Socializing him to everything. Exercise him/her every day. My dog and I walk every day. It’s so good for both you and him. I’m not a big fan of dog parks to many dogs, people and not so good personalities(people and dogs) Find a friend with a mellow dog and do play dates. You must exercise EVERY day. Good luck be patient and have fun.

Hey there. Sign up for a puppy training and socialization class. Familiarize yourself with the actual needs of a puppy – any puppy – and keep in mind that the neurotic behaviors of a Weim are no joke. These dogs need a lot of exercise and mental stimulation – they were bred to have a long and busy working day, and will become extremely destructive and neurotic without exercise and training.
I strongly suggest that you joing Start Puppy Training, a positive list here on Yahoo:

The answers and advice you will get on here will be extremely uneven, at best. A lot of people come here to purposefully spread harmful information – be forewarned.
Good luck!

I have a male weim. They are great dogs but not for the first time dog owner! I would recommend obedience class for you and your pup. They do have separation anxiety so I would start crate training as soon as possible. When your pup get older don’t leave food on the counter cause it will come up missing. They need to be taught leadership as a pup so when they reach 80 lbs they don’t jump on you or guest. Good Luck with your Grey ghost!!
