My pups are not born yet due in 2weeks. just want to know myself be4 i take them to vet for docking and know has to be done in first 3 days. Thanks for every1s help and more comments and help very welcome.
I’m going to assume that your puppies haven’t been born or are only a couple days old because this is supposed to be none between 3 and 5 days and. I would contact a reputable breeder, docking a Weims tail to be the correct length is tricky. The way that I was told is to measure 1 – 1 1/4 inches and you will feel the notch between the vertabrae where the tail is suppose to be docked. Do contact a reputable breeder though, I’ve seen so many Weims with their tails too short (like mine) and some that are too long.

Firstly, this is the reptile section, not the dog one. And secondly, it is cruel to dock tails, how would you like it to be done to you if you had a tail? They need tails to express their feelings and to communicate to other dogs.

After the dog is over a few days old, it’s not docking anymore. It’s tail amputation. And it’s VERY cruel and painful. Any decent vet would not allow you to do it. Sorry for the answer you probably didn’t want… but it’s inhumane.

the vet will know how and this should be done within a couple of days of birth
