I have a 4 year old Weimaraner and he is constantly flapping his ears/shaking his head. We always clean his ears for him and he doesn't have mites. The vet has even given me medication to drop in there, but nothing seems to work. Help please!?
Talk to your vet again. If you have ruled out an ear infection and mites, then ask about allergies. The breed is prone to allergies. We have a Weimaraner who was doing the same thing, shaking her head and rubbing her ears. The vet gave us some drops that sooth her ears and stop them from itching. You could also looking to changing your dog's diet in case the allergies are food related. You could ask your vet about that as well. Whatever the case may be, make sure to get the problem solved. Constant head shaking can lead to a separation of the skin on the ears, known as a hematoma. Good luck.

Back to the vet – something inside his ear is causing him irritation and it needs further investigation. If his ears are totally clear, and the ear drum is not inflamed, then the vet may check his teeth – a gum infection near the back of his mouth might be causing him pain, and the head shaking could point to this too.

look in his ears.. are they red? do they have sores, or look they are inflamed in any way? do they have a distinct foul odor or discharging? if yes, he may have some sore of infection or allergy.

Has your vet done an ear cytology? They take a sample from the ears and look at it under the microscope. Then they can tell if your dog has a bacterial or yeast infection, or both. From this, they can prescribe the proper medication. If they already did this and the ear meds are not helping, then you need to have the ears rechecked and another ear med prescribed. Some ear infections are stubborn. Also, do not let him swim if he does, because the constant moisture will make it worse.

Pet Weimaraner, have worked in two different small animal vet clinics and seen lots of ear problems in pets
I agree with everyone else who said it sounds like an ear infection. You may need to take him to a different vet.
Also, my dog was having constant ear infections and the vet said it could possibly be an allergy to her food that's causing it.
